Introduction to OSHA for USW District 1, Heath Care Sector

This virtual, interactive training webinar will focus on your rights as a worker. Introduction to OSHA covers an introduction to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the OSH Act for workers. Course topics include an introduction to OSHA, OSHA Standards, the inspection process, implementing a safety and health program, worker training requirements and worker rights.

Opioids and the Workplace: Prevention and Response for USW District 4

Workers in high-risk occupations or who work in hazardous environments face significant risk of injury, which may lead to opioid or other substance use, overdose or death. This training will describe the relationship between work and addiction, and how you can help curve the epidemic by making changes in your workplace.

OSHA Outreach 10-hour General Industry

The United Steelworkers (USW) Tony Mazzocchi Center (TMC) in conjunction with the Great Lakes OSHA Education Center, is offering an OSHA Outreach 10-hour General Industry course. This training will familiarize workers with OSHA standards, as well as safety and health hazards common to the workplace.
We've designed this training to be fully narrated and interactive with a goal to educate workers on identifying, avoiding, controlling and preventing jobsite hazards.

OSHA 10-hour General Industry topics include:

  • Slip, Trip and Fall Hazard Protection
  • Fixed and Portable Ladder Safety
  • Fire Prevention, Protection and Emergency Egress Safety
  • Dangers of Electrical Hazards
  • Using and Choosing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Workers' Rights to Know the Chemical Makeup of Materials Found in Their Workplace
  • Difference Between Chronic and Acute Health Ailments
  • Hazards of Spray Finishing, Dipping, Coating
  • Dangers of Unguarded Equipment

After completing this course, participants will receive an OSHA 10-hour General Industry course completion card.
